Prime Minister Manmohan Singh could not meet Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej Thursday as the monarch is indisposed and hospitalised.
The prime minister presented a 'Maha Bodhi' sapling to Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to be handed over to the king.
"There was a medical advisory on His Majesty. It was not lifted before the PM's visit," India's Secretary-east Ashok Kanth said here, referring to why the prime minister could not meet the king.
The prime minister was earlier scheduled to visit the Siriraj Hospital here Thursday, where the ailing monarch is admitted. The visit was called off due to the medical advisory.
'Maha Bodhi' sapling is considered sacred by the Buddhists.
