Becoming a superstar is not a cakewalk. All the superstars in the South Industry today have faced rejections and failures at one point of time. Also, though they are superstars in one language, the audience from other language don't accept them immediately.

It takes at least two to three hit films for the audience to accept them. Kollywood star hero Vijay also got some rejections in the starting of his career. After facing some flop movies, Vijay finally tasted success with movies like 'Tupaki', 'Adirindi' etc. Even Tamil audience also took some time before accepting him as a hero. During his first movie 'Naalaya Theerpu', he faced criticism for his looks. Vijay used to have a black skin colour and was not that impressive in terms of looks. So, at that time, an English magazine published an article criticising him. They even commented that how come a person like Vijay became a hero. The actor was deeply hurt to see this see the article.

Another actor Sanjeev recently revealed this matter in an interview. "Vijay cried that entire night. I think it was either New Year or Christmas and he cried a lot that day as he couldn't take that criticism." Said Sanjeev. Interestingly, after a few same magazines approached Vijay to print a cover story on him. If this is not successful then what is?
