Did Dhurandhar 2 Reveal Secret Army Details?
The movie Dhurandhar 2, starring Ranveer Singh, is now facing a legal issue after a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the Delhi High Court.
The movie Dhurandhar 2, starring Ranveer Singh, is now facing a legal issue after a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the Delhi High Court. The petition claims that the film may have revealed sensitive information related to Indian Army operations.
The PIL was filed by Deepak Kumar, a Head Constable working with the Sashastra Seema Bal. According to him, some scenes in the movie show military operations, locations, and characters in a way that could affect the country’s security and integrity.
After hearing the matter, the Delhi High Court asked the Central Government and the Central Board of Film Certification to carefully examine the allegations. The court said that even though the film may be fictional and made only for entertainment, the concerns raised by a security officer should not be ignored.
The bench, led by Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia, directed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the CBFC to review whether the movie violated the Official Secrets Act. The court also said that films can create a strong impact on people, so such matters should be handled seriously.
The petitioner argued that the movie includes scenes and characters that appear very similar to real-life military officials and servicemen. He believes this could reveal information that should remain confidential.
Interestingly, despite the controversy, Dhurandhar 1 and Dhurandhar 2, directed by Aditya Dhar, have become huge box office successes. Both films reportedly earned more than Rs 1,000 crore worldwide and received positive responses from audiences.
The case has now created fresh discussion on how filmmakers should handle sensitive national security topics in movies. Many people feel creative freedom is important, while others believe military-related details should be shown carefully.
Now, all eyes are on the government and the CBFC to see what action they will take after reviewing the petition.
