Dreams of seeing movies on a massive IMAX screen in Hyderabad feel like a kite that’s flown too high, everyone wants it, but no one can quite grab it. The city is booming, audiences are growing, yet the big-screen experience is still missing. A while ago, Asian Suniel Narang had hinted at bringing IMAX here, and fans got excited. But then IMAX Corp clarified that nothing was officially planned, leaving movie lovers disappointed once again.
Now, producer Jhanvi Narang, daughter of Suniel Narang, has put things in perspective. Asked about IMAX coming to Hyderabad, she was straightforward. “My father only spoke about the possibility, that’s it,” she said. She added there’s no confirmation yet and no timeline for when it might actually happen. So, it seems the IMAX dream in Hyderabad is still on hold, for now.
Movie buffs had been hoping for something bigger and better, a true cinematic upgrade. Imagine immersive sound, gigantic screens, and every detail popping out. Hyderabad could have been a real hub for next-level movie experiences. But for the moment, audiences will have to settle for regular theatres. Jhanvi’s honest take makes it clear: it’s a nice idea, but still just that, an idea.
Meanwhile, Jhanvi is keeping busy with her new production, Premante, starring Priyadarshi and Anandhi. The film is set to release on November 21, 2025, and she’s all in for its promotions. So while cinegoers wait for the IMAX experience, there’s at least something new to look forward to on the big screen, even if it’s not quite the giant IMAX thrill yet.
