Lenin: Decade Long Drought Should Be Over
And the last nail in the coffin came through Surender Reddy’s “Agent”, which was released 3 years ago, and the result is so atrocious that Akhil himself took years to recover.
The desire to become a mass hero all at once has cost Akhil Akkineni big time. It’s been a decade for the young chap after his debut film “Akhil” ended up as a disaster, and since then, he has never scored a humongous blockbuster. And the last nail in the coffin came through Surender Reddy’s “Agent”, which was released 3 years ago, and the result is so atrocious that Akhil himself took years to recover.
Baring Most Eligible Bachelor, none of Akhil’s films, like Hello or Mr Majnu, have impressed the audience, and this time, after taking 3 years gap, he’s coming up with the movie “Lenin”. While the trailer that got released the other day has gotten applause for its rustic look, Akhil’s screen presence and the overall theme, the comparisons that the film is like a Rayalaseema version of Rangasthalam are a bit risky. However, Akhil has to score big at any cost with this movie, as this will be a big decision for his career.
Though the trailer hasn’t given any loopholes for social media to explore and troll it, it definitely hasn’t been explosive in terms of reach either. That’s the reason why trade circles are a little curious about the output of “Lenin”, which is hitting cinemas on July 10th. Akhil will be promoting the film extensively till the release date along with heroine Bhagyashree Borse, and that will bring good openings. Then it’s up to the audience to decide what Lenin would do, and if all goes well, then Akhil’s decade-long drought will be over.
