Chiranjeevi’s Ex-Heroine Slams Insta Glamour Of Heroines
I cannot do that. I want my work to speak for itself,” said Meenakshi Seshadri, the former heroine, who was known to Telugu people for her brilliant portrayal as an exploited girl in the movie “Aapadbandhavudu”.
“Whether there is work or not, these actresses are putting up a show, either by wearing clothes or not, and creating the news. I cannot do that. I want my work to speak for itself,” said Meenakshi Seshadri, the former heroine, who was known to Telugu people for her brilliant portrayal as an exploited girl in the movie “Aapadbandhavudu”. Recently, the actress has even shared a special reel, dancing to the Aura Ammaku Chella song from the same Chiranjeevi film, and shared it on social media.
Well, back in the 80s and 90s, with superhit films like Damini, and without doing any skin show, heroine Meenakshi Seshadri ruled Bollywood big time. And now, when the media asks her about a comeback, the actress actually shared thoughts on how modern stardom is working out only through visibility management, but not because of her acting skills. She even stated that these days Bollywood actresses are behaving more like Vidya Balan’s dialogue from “The Dirty Picture”, which says, “Entertainment, Entertainment, Entertainment”. Of course, if we look at any actress’s Instagram account, that’s clearly visible.
Interestingly, her comments also come at a time when many senior actors are questioning the hyper-PR culture dominating Indian tinsel towns today. Earlier, too, several actors hinted at how aggressive image-building machinery has overtaken genuine artistic conversations. Meenakshi made a strong point in connection with this: “Nothing succeeds like success.”
The actress, however, expressed her interest in coming back to India, as she settled in the USA post-marriage and teaches Bharatanatyam there. A trained dancer, she also takes care of her kids. But she expressed interest in working with the likes of Anil Kapoor, Sunny Deol and Jackie Shroff if the time comes.
