Peddi Sharing Percentage Controversy Explained: What It Means?
With reference to your above letter, we would like to bring to your kind notice that I am not present in the meeting held on 15.05.2026 with the Producers, Distributors and Exhibitors.
Ram Charan, recently arrived on the big screens with his latest film Peddi. This film released in theatres on June 4, and it is nearly done with the theatrical run, but in the meanwhile, it caught in a controversy with regard to the percentage sharing basis.
Earlier the Telugu film chamber had collectively decided to implement a 7.5% revenue sharing model with distributors for films that release with ticket hikes in Andhra Pradesh. The timing of this decision was such that it came just a few days before the release of Peddi.
And now the producer of this Ram Charan film has been notified about this percentage sharing model, and he had a very strong reaction to the same. Venkat Satish Kilaru has pointed out that Peddi is a big film that released at crunch time. He added that neither him or his representative were invited for the earlier meeting by the chamber, and he was not even notified about the 7.5% revenue sharing model.
With reference to your above letter, we would like to bring to your kind notice that I am not present in the meeting held on 15.05.2026 with the Producers, Distributors and Exhibitors. Neither I nor our distributors received any proper intimation or invitation from the Apex Trade Body to attend the said meeting, wherein certain decisions were taken with regard to our film "PEDDI", without our knowledge and participation, the producer said on this matter.
It appears that the revenue sharing model that was earlier approved by the chamber was not intimated to the makers of this Charan film. People are with mixed opinions on how the chamber can decide such activities just before the release of a film and expect the producers to comply with the same.
