Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor recently opened up about his difficult journey to stardom while promoting his upcoming film Deva. Despite being the son of renowned actor Pankaj Kapoor, Shahid faced many challenges in his early years in the industry. He shared that he had to endure 250 auditions and live in rented homes before finally achieving success in Bollywood.

In an emotional conversation with Bollywood News, Shahid reflected on his struggles. "My father is a character actor, and my mom was a Kathak dancer since she was 15 years old. I’ve always lived in rented houses and had to give numerous auditions. I don’t come from a place of privilege," he revealed. He also opened up about feeling victimized by his circumstances, acknowledging how some people start their careers with immense privilege, unlike his own journey, which was shaped by hard work and persistence.

Shahid also recalled the times he was made to feel inferior, even after reaching stardom. "This happened right before Kabir Singh. I don’t want to go into specifics, but I was made to feel lesser as an artist and as an individual. It was a tough time, but I never accepted it," he explained. He went on to say that his survival instinct kept him going, adding, "I’ve learned over 21 years in this industry that I am a survivor, and I can overcome any difficult situation."

On the work front, Shahid Kapoor is set to star in Deva, where he plays a rebellious cop alongside Pooja Hegde, who portrays a journalist. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews and produced by Roy Kapur Films, Deva also features Kubbra Sait and Pavail Gulati in key roles. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on January 31.
