Suma’s voice has been a fixture in Telugu households for years, but it hasn’t always been smooth sailing. She once developed vocal nodules from constant speaking during shoots and shows. Doctors told her to stay completely silent for ten days. For someone who makes a living talking, it wasn’t easy.

Though Telugu isn’t her first language, she mastered it well enough to host some of the biggest TV programs in the state. She started with serials like Wayaipadagalu and met her husband, actor Rajeev Kanakala, during one of her early shows, Meghamala. The two later married and became one of the most familiar faces in Telugu media.

Before she made it big on television, Suma had a strong background in theatre. Thanks to her father’s job with the Railways, she got involved in stage plays and even won a National Award for her performances. Moving from Kerala to Secunderabad as a child, she kept her theatre connection alive through those years.

These days, she’s seen everywhere from TV shows to film events to her YouTube videos. But underneath the cheerful energy is someone who has had to stop, restart, and adjust more than once. That part of her story rarely gets told, but it’s what makes her journey real.
