Suniel Shetty has finally explained why he keeps saying no to a lot of South film offers, especially villain roles. He feels it’s not right that Hindi actors are mostly offered only negative roles in South movies. And if you look around, it kind of makes sense, Vivek Oberoi in Spirit, Bobby Deol in Kanguva, Sanjay Dutt in Double iSmart, the list goes on. Suniel doesn’t want to be boxed into that stereotype.

He said in an interview that he does get offers regularly, but most are just villain parts to give the hero more punch. He doesn’t enjoy that space anymore. Sure, he played a negative role in Rajinikanth’s Darbar, but that was special, he wanted to act with Rajinikanth. Recently, he also did the Tulu film Jai, which he took to support regional cinema, and it was well received. Suniel added that these days, language doesn’t matter, content alone decides a film’s reach.

He reminded fans that he’s not against South films at all. In Telugu movies, he’s played strong characters like Vijender Sinha in Ghani, where he was the main antagonist. But in Mosagallu, he wasn’t a villain, he played a cop trying to stop a massive scam. His point is simple: he picks roles based on what feels right, not the industry label.
