₹100 crore used to be a dream number for films, but 5 years ago, Telugu films started getting ₹100 crores gross, and then expanded into ₹1000+ crores clubs also. Now, Telugu stars entering the ₹100 crore club means it’s not about their film collection, but they are taking home ₹100 crores as their remuneration.

Superstar Prabhas is already there as he takes home more than that already. Mahesh Babu is moving into the profit-sharing zone for Varanasi and can easily cross that mark. After Pushpa, Allu Arjun’s range has gone up sharply, and he’s also charging nearly ₹150 crores, they say. Now, Ram Charan joins that space, if reports are to be believed. Post RRR, this mega hero’s positioning has changed. Global recognition has come, a bigger market has been created, and that naturally resulted in higher expectations. Even Game Changer’s flop show hasn’t dented his demand. The hype and business around Peddi clearly show that, so does the remuneration part.

The talk is that Ram Charan is charging close to ₹120 crore for Peddi. His highest ever in his career. And for his next with Sukumar, there’s a buzz of an even bigger deal, touching ₹140 crore mark. However, when remuneration hits this level, the film’s economics shift completely. Recovery becomes tougher, unless the film scores a blockbuster. The margin for error becomes very small, owing to the stakes involved. Charan should make sure that there will be no underperformer that can shake the entire structure.
