Producer Ravi Shankar Clarifies Ustaad Bhagat Singh Remake Confusion
Now, his next with Power Star Pawan Kalyan, Ustaad Bhagat Singh, has everyone talking, mostly about whether it’s a remake or something totally new.;
Harish Shankar has a way with remakes that just click. Gabbar Singh, the Telugu version of Salman Khan’s Dabangg, and Gaddalakonda Ganesh, adapted from Tamil’s Jigarthanda, both smashed at the box office. Now, his next with Power Star Pawan Kalyan, Ustaad Bhagat Singh, has everyone talking, mostly about whether it’s a remake or something totally new.
The film’s shooting is done, and it’s all set for a big April release. Ever since the announcement, whispers have been flying that it’s inspired by Vijay’s Tamil hit Theri, which was previously remade in Hindi as John Baby starring Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh, a film that sadly flopped. Naturally, fans got a little nervous, wondering if it could work in Tollywood.
But here’s the thing, Harish Shankar hasn’t officially called it a remake. The team keeps saying it’s fresh. Apparently, only the core idea of Theri gave them a spark. Everything else, the characters, the scenes, the dialogues, is built around Pawan Kalyan and Telugu audiences. Fans are curious to see what twist Shankar adds this time.
Producer Ravi Shankar cleared the air, saying, “The story is strong and fits Pawan Kalyan perfectly. This isn’t a remake. Full mass, full power.” With that out there, the buzz is growing even more. Now it’s all eyes on Ustaad Bhagat Singh and how it lands when it hits theatres next year.
