Of course, today Superstar Vijay has clocked a big win in elections through his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), but then, the actor is no newcomer in the film industry. He’s like the second generation coming from a Superstar director’s family, whose popular assistants include the likes of legendary S Shankar and others.
Vijay’s father SA Chandrasekhar, is a star director, while his mother Shobha, is a playback singer, writer, director and producer as well. These two have actually directed and produced three films with Megastar Chiranjeevi in Telugu.
SA Chandrasekhar directed Megastar Chiranjeevi in 1981 in the film Chattaniki Kallu Levu, which is a remake of the director’s own film, Sattam Oru Vilaiyattu, written by his wife Shoba, and with a screenplay by none other than former CM Karunanidhi. Later in 1983, SA Chandrasekhar remade his Nenjile Thunivirunthal as Palletoori Monagadu with Chiranjeevi. Then in 1984, he remade his Kannada movie Geluvu Nannade as Devanthakudu with Chiranjeevi. Guess what, in Chattaniki Kallu Levu and Devanthakudu, Chiranjeevi’s character name is “Vijay” only.
Though Chiranjeevi hasn’t worked with Chandrasekhar later, after the film industry got mostly shifted to Hyderabad, and the Megastar has a different approach to commercial films later on.
