Even as Kannappa finds its place among recent Telugu hits, actor Vishnu Manchu is facing a problem no filmmaker wants, piracy.
The actor took to social media to share his frustration, revealing that more than 30,000 pirated links of the film have already been taken down. Calling piracy “plain theft,” he urged viewers to avoid illegal platforms and support films in theatres or official streaming services. “We don’t teach our kids to steal. Watching pirated content is no different,” he wrote.
The film itself is Vishnu’s passion project, with him playing the iconic Thinnadu, a hunter who evolves into the legendary devotee Kannappa. With Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, Mohanlal as Kirata, and a brief but impactful presence by Prabhas as Rudra, the film boasts a massive ensemble. Backed by Mohan Babu’s production house and shot on a grand scale in New Zealand, Kannappa isn’t just a film for Vishnu, it’s a culmination of faith, effort, and belief, now under threat from piracy at its peak.
