10 districts include Mumbai, Bengaluru hold a major share of Covid-19 infections!

Since late February 2021, India has been witnessing a spike in single-day cases of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. To tackle the second wave triggered by the Coronavirus, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh have imposed partial lockdowns.

Amid this, the Union Health Ministry issued a list of the top ten districts in India, that are worst affected by the deadly outbreak of the novel Coronavirus. These districts hold the highest number of pandemic infections.

Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, Thane, Nashik, Aurangabad, Bengaluru Urban, Nanded, Delhi, and Ahmednagar are the top ten affected districts in the country, the Union Health Ministry said.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan called for a press briefing on Tuesday to discuss the prevailing Coronavirus situation in India. Addressing the press briefing, he said the ten districts are the hot spots for the virus.

The Ministry has highlighted the rise in the positivity rate of the deadly virus in the nation and stressed the need to increase the pandemic tests and Covid-19 case tracking.

Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat, still remain the severely affected states in the country. In total, these states account for more than 78 percent of the cases.

In the last 24 hours, India added not less than 56,211 fresh cases of Coronavirus infections and the total infections rose to 1,20,95,855. The Covid-19 related fatalities have zoomed to 1,62,114, Health Ministry's data said.
