In a shocking incident, over 100 bodies were seen floating on the Ganges in Biharâs Buxor district. The bodies were found near Mahadevghat in Buxor district. The photos and the videos of the floating bodies have gone viral on the social media.
There is a suspicion that these bodies were those of Covid 19 patients. However, there is no independent confirmation of whether the bodies were Covid infected or not. The Buxor administration has said that the bodies did not belong to Bihar and may have flown down from upstream state of Uttar Pradesh. An official from Buxor has said that Buxor has the tradition of burning the dead. Even the Covid patients are cremated and consigned to flames. He said that a special employee has been assigned this task. He said there is no way the Buxor administration can stop the flow of the bodies from UP.
Meanwhile, there are allegations that hundreds of Covid-hit bodies were being burnt in Uttar Pradesh. However, there is no such incident of bodies floating anywhere in Uttar Pradesh. âIf there are covid deaths of such magnitude, then such bodies should also be seen in several ghats of Uttar Pradesh,â said an official from the UP Government.
