Update: 2020-08-20 10:40 GMT
The sero-surveillance carried out in Vijayawada and adjacent places by the Andhra Pradesh government took everyone by surprise as the survey stated that around 40 percent of the population might have contacted the virus.

As per the sero-surveillance, around 20 percent population across the Krishna district got exposed to the ongoing pandemic but they remained asymptomatic.

On a brighter note,  the samples tested to find out the antibodies present in the public have found out that 378 people out of the respondents possess antibodies which is the highest.

Alongside the areas in Vijayawada city, the public in the villages around the city had developed the pandemic antibodies which is a good sign.

Sero-surveillance is a standard measure that is used to measure the presence of antibodies in the general public to fight a particular virus. The survey also aims at finding out the exact percentage of the public that got exposed to the virus.
