7 days grace period for Telangana bill

As predicted earlier, President Pranab Mukherjee has granted a week's extension to the Andhra Pradesh legislature to complete its discussions on the Telangana bill.

The decision has been taken by the President following a request of the Andhra Pradesh government. Speaker Nadendla Manohar announced on Thursday that he had received communication from president office regarding the extension date

Its known that  President had sent the draft Bill to the state legislature on December 12 and gave time until January 23 to discuss and return The new deadline brightens the chances of the creation of the new state before the Lok Sabha polls, likely to be held by May this year.

The government wants to pass the  Reorganisation Bill, 2013, in Parliament when the current Lok Sabha meets for its two-week Budget session .The United Progressive Alliance government is expected to introduce the bill in parliament in the coming session beginning February 5.
