In what it could be a shocker, a tiger at the famous Bronx Zoo in New York City tested positive for the deadly coronavirus. The chief veterinarian said that this is the first instance where a wild animal has infected the virus from a human.
Going into detail, the 4-year-old Malayan tiger Nadia was confirmed of the COVID-19 pandemic after screening the animals. It has sent for examinations after it developed symptoms of dry cough.
The Wildlife Conservation Society that manages the Bronx Zoo has released an official statement in this regard in which it stated that along with Naida three lions and three lions also developed the symptoms.
"This is the first time that any of us know of anywhere in the world that a person infected the animal and the animal got sick. Hopefully, we will all have a better understanding as a result," Paul Calle, chief veterinarian at the Bronx Zoo said.
X-rays and ultrasound along with blood tests were conducted to Nadia as part of her medical examinations. It has been widely reported that the remaining animals in the Zoo will also be tested for the pandemic.
