Additional USD 2,000 H-1B fee on Indian companies

Just few months ago in a relief to Indian IT companies, the US has scrapped an additional fee of USD 2,000 for H-1B visa and USD 2,500 for L1 visa. Many companies and employers have sigh of relief with the news.

But here comes a shocker again.Indian IT companies in the US may end up paying a special USD 2,000 fee again on the popular H-1B and L-1 visas.
 
A special USD 2,000 fee could be imposed on the visas for Indian IT companies to fund a 9/11 healthcare act.A group of Congressmen quietly mounting fresh efforts to bring the law.The bill which was amed after Detective James Zadroga who died of a respiratory illness in 2006, expired on October 1. Lawmakers are seeking to permanently extend the bill.
 
According to the National Association of Software and Services Companies  (NASSCOM), Indian companies had paid 470-536 crores between 2010 and 2015. The extra fee applies to companies with at  least 50 per cent of their employees on H-1B visa or L-1 visas and this will be going to turn as extra burden for all the employers.
