Senior Indian Police Service(IPS) officer AB Venkateswara Rao rendered his services as the Intelligence chief of Andhra Pradesh in the previous Telugu Desam Party government. But people started talking about him due to his confrontation with the current government more than in his previous post. He was sacked from the post after YSRCP came to power.
YCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who has been accusing AB Venkateswara Rao of his alleged involvement while procuring equipment suspended him after the 2019 polls which saw a transition in power from TDP to YSRCP. He was kept on suspension for more than two years.
AB Venkateswara Rao had to wage a legal fight against the Andhra Pradesh government to get his suspension revoked. The Supreme Court gave a big relief to the senior IPS officer by directing the Andhra Pradesh government to not continue the IPS officer's suspension as the period cannot be more than two years.
Going by the Supreme Court orders, the Andhra Pradesh government issued orders appointing AB Venkateswara Rao as the Commissioner of Printing, Stationery, and Stores Purchase. The orders issued by Chief Secretary Sameer Sharma were sent to the senior IPS officer.
Reacting to the appointment, former Intelligence chief AB Venkateswara Rao said that he is happy with the appointment and he will work hard on bringing the last glory of the Mutyalampadu government printing press which has a rich history of printing various books including the school textbooks.
Now the question is can the senior IPS bring back the old glory of the printing press. Compared to earlier, the printing business is not having a good run, and making the business bloom is not an easy task. The IPS officer should first request the government to print the school textbooks at the press.
If printing textbooks works well and gets a good image, then the IPS officer will have an opportunity to talk to others and get commercial printing to happen so that it generates good revenue and employment. The senior IPS officer is gearing up to embark on a tough mission. Let us hope that he succeeds in bringing the lost name to the printing press.
