Andhra Pradesh: Municipal polls clock 70.66 voting percentage!

The Much-talked-about Municipal Polls were concluded in Andhra Pradesh. The Civic Body polls covered 12 Corporations and 71 Municipalities in the state. The elections were started at 7: 00 AM and lasted till 6 PM.

Despite having a slow start in the Morning, the polling percentage in the Municipal Polls picked up gradually.  A tense situation aroused at a few booths with activists of ruling and opposition parties indulging in fights. Except for these incidents, polling went smoothly.

According to the media reports, not less than 70.66 percent of votes were polled in the polls. Krishna district recorded the highest polling percentage with 75.90 percent, while Kurnool recorded the lowest polling percentage with 62.53 percent.

Looking at the Municipalities, Ongole recorded the highest polling percentage with 75.52 percent, followed by Machilipatnam(71.14 percent), Chittor(66.06 percent), and Vijayawada56.81 percent.

The vote counting for the Municipal polls will be announced on the 14th of this month. The process will commence at 8 AM, by evening, the election result will be announced. Political observers are seeing the polls as a battle between ruling and opposition parties.
