Andhra Pradesh witnesses a spike in new Covid infections and casualties
The second wave of the Coronavirus has once again resulted in Andhra Pradesh witnessing a surge in fresh infections. The state witnessed more than 1,000 single-day infections in four days.
The health officials in the state have tested not less than 31,260 samples in the last 24 hours and as many as 1,398 people in the state were found positive for the deadly virus. The total toll of cumulative cases in the state has increased to 9,05,946.
The data released by the Health Department said that in the past 24 hours, 787 people were discharged from the hospitals after beating the virus, taking the total recoveries to 8,89,295. There are 9,417 active cases in the state.
The fresh casualties have also seen a rise in the state with nine people breathing their last battling the deadly virus in the past 24 hours. So far, a total of 7,234 patients have succumbed to the virus.
Guntur district reported the highest infections in the state in the past 24 hours with 278 cases, followed by Visakhapatnam(198), Chittor(190), Krishna(178), Nellore(163) cases. East Godavari reported the least number of cases 1ith 15 infections.
