The long demand of having a separate state for Telangana from erstwhile Andhra Pradesh was achieved back in 2014. Telangana became the 29th state in the country. It's been seven years since the state bifurcation happened.
Even after seven years, one or the other issue arises between the two Telugu states. Over the past few weeks, the two states have been confronting each other on the issue of alleged irregularities over the usage of water share from the common reservoirs.
Now the Telangana Pollution Control Board's actions became the talk of the town as the authorities reportedly locked the office of the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board in Hyderabad.
Media reports claimed that Telangana PCB officials locked the office that is being used by the Pollution Control Boards of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana jointly. The office is located in the Begumpet region of Hyderabad.
The offices of the respective pollution control boards were located in the same building. While the Telangana PCB officials are using the first and second floors for office purposes, the third and fourth floors were dedicated to the AP officials.
As per the media reports, the Telangana PCB officials have locked the office against the will of the Andhra Pradesh counterpart officials, who were reportedly trying to allocate the office space to the Andhra Pradesh Human Rights Commission.
Finding fault with the decision, the officials said that the office space was dedicated for the Andhra Pradesh PCB officials to carry out their functions. They are meant to use for office purposes and not for other purposes.
Despite a major share of departments shifting to Amaravati, the proposed capital region for Andhra Pradesh during the regime of the previous government, the Pollution Control Board employees visit the office here now and then.
The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board Chairman was also located at the same combined building. The Telangana officials have locked the office earlier and the Andhra officials opposed this.
As a fresh development, the officials have locked the office and sealed it restraining the Andhra Pradesh officials from using the office space. A response from the Andhra Pradesh officials is awaited.
