Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna began his speech in Assembly Today by congratulating all the women on the World's Women Day.
Soon, Balakrishna responded on the controversy over his remarks at 'Savitri' audio launch. 'Some people including fellow MLAs (Roja) tried to make an issue out of nothing. Even they knew about the kind of prominence women have in my films. I have already issued an unconditional apology to everyone who misunderstood me or my comments. I have immense respect for women. I inherited this quality from my father NTR who has done so much for empowering women by ensuring equal rights to men & women,' he said.
Balayya asked Members to realize none of the guests on the stage & audience who were present at the audio launch found fault with his comments as they weren't intended to ill-treat women. He maintained such comments were made in the context of characters he play in feature films.
