The high five people use luxury vehicles that cost crores of rupees. They see high-end vehicles as a status symbol. However, despite spending crores on purchasing these costly vehicles, these bigwigs wonât pay tax for the vehicles.
Such vehicles were seized in Telangana capital on Sunday. It is said that as many as 11 luxury vehicles including Rolls Royce, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Lamborghini, Ferrari, and others were seized.
The Road Transport sleuths have conducted raids on the vehicles that have been roaming freely on the roads without paying the tax under the leadership of Hyderabad Deputy Transport Commissioner K Papa Rao on Sunday.
On the occasion of Independence Day, the raid operation was conducted. Around 40 officials took part in the search drive to seize the vehicles that are involved in the alleged tax evasion.
The Road Transport department is expected to collect Rs 3 to 8 Crore in the form of tax from the owners of the respective car owners. The tax amount that will be collected by the vehicles owners will be the highest amount to have collected for tax evasion by far.
It is said that the RTA officials have been closely monitoring the movements of the vehicles that escaped the tax payment for over half a year. Gathering all the details, the raid was conducted and the vehicles were seized.
If these vehicles were used by paying all the taxes, the amount would be very high. So to escape the high taxes, the vehicles will be either imported from northeast states where the taxes will be less or the costly vehicles will be purchased in the name of diplomats.
Diplomats need not pay the taxes for the vehicles. That is the reason why they choose this option.
After seizing the vehicles, the officials have appealed to the public to follow the rules and pay the taxes promptly, or else the vehicles will be seized.
After seizing the vehicles, the RTO officials took the high-end vehicles with them to the office. They didn't listen to the owners who requested them to spare their vehicles.
The RTO officials have sent a strong message to those who use luxury vehicles without paying the taxes that their vehicles would be seized if they indulge in such a practice.
