People of Uttar Pradesh voted for BJP in 2014 Lok Sabha Polls and 2017 Assembly Polls only because of the internal wars in Samajwadi Party. Winning almost all the Parliament Segments in UP helped the Saffron Party attain the magic figure on its own. After getting 2/3rd majority in Assembly Polls, Narendra Modi and Amit Shah choose Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath as the Chief Minister. This decision seems to be the biggest mistake in their political careers.
Not only did Yogi failed to leave a mark of his own as CM, but also kept making headlines mostly for all the wrong reasons. Even the alliance partners of BJP and party leaders are criticizing Yogi's rule. Recently, A Minister and Three MLAs had expressed their displeasure publicly.
UP Minister Suhal Dev and Bharatiya Samaj Party chief Prakash Raj opined: 'UP People have given a historic victory for BJP because of party state chief Keshav Prasad Mourya. People wished to see him as Chief minister. Whereas, BJP Leadership brought Yogi into the scene much to their shock. This is why BJP faced defeat in all the by-elections since then'.
BJP MLAs have been staging dharnas in UP complaining that their issues remain unresolved. Recently victories for SP and BSP prompted them to contest elections jointly in future. If BJP loses even half of the seats in UP during Lok Sabha Polls 2019, Narendra Modi can't retain the power at all.
