No Other Card Game Attracts as Much Turnovers

A recent primary study by Sevenjackpots has revealed that blackjack is the most played card game on Indian online casinos, generating larger turnovers than any other card game. Blackjack is also the third most popular casino game category after game shows and roulette, the study has observed.

The research paper "Top Game Shows and Live Casino Classics Captivate India" is based on detailed analysis of 10 months worth of aggregate data on real money turnovers and active users, registered by more than 5,500 games including
blackjack at Casino Days
, one of the leading online casino sites operating in the country.

Blackjack games contributed 16.11% of the site turnovers in the ten months between January and October 2022, but their share dropped down to 10.37% in the last three months (August to October) of the analysed period.

The Drop Didn't Cost Blackjack Its Position

Nevertheless, blackjack retained its ranking as the most popular card game and third most sought casino game in this trimester despite the drop in turnover share.

The more detailed breakdown of the data by providers reveals that the drop was mainly due to a sharp decrease in revenues from blackjack games by Pragmatic Play from 6.15% (Jan - Oct) to 1.82% (Aug - Oct).

The other major game providers of blackjack games also lost parts of their income shares - Evolution dropped from 8.93% to 8.34%, while titles by Ezugi shrank almost five fold from 1.03% to 0.21%.

Roulette games hold the second position as biggest revenue contributors with a turnover share of 22.91% for the whole 10-month period and going up to 26.79% between August and October. The leading category - game shows, registered turnover shares of 34.48% and 32.81% respectively.

Andar Bahar and Teen Patti Combined Cannot Measure with Blackjack

Traditional Indian games Andar Bahar and Teen Patti are also present in the chart of top games with shares of more than 1%, but their ranking is towards the bottom of the list.

Moreover, turnovers from blackjack games beat the combined contribution of these two Indian games by a landslide, both for the 10 and 3-month analysed periods.

Andar Bahar games rank higher at the 7th position with fairly stable shares of 2.97% and 2.69% respectively, while Teen Patti games are down at tenth and dropping from 1.67% to 1.25% in the last three months.

All three major game providers - Evolution (0.56%), Ezugi (1.24%), and Pragmatic (1.18%) have attracted significant shares of the operator turnovers from Andar Bahar, while Ezugi is almost solely responsible for all revenues from Teen Patti.

Baccarat also Tops Andar Bahar & Teen Patti Taken Together

Baccarat games rank in fourth position in terms of generated platform turnovers with a share of 7.45% between January and October 2022, again way above the combined monetary weight of Andar Bahar and Teen Patti taken together.

Baccarat's turnover share even increases to 9.04% for the months between August and October last year on the background of Andar Bahar and Teen Patti losing some ground.

Slots are fifth with 4.59% and 4.54% respectively, followed by an Asian game - Sic Bo with shares of 3.06% and 2.66%. Hold'em Poker comes after Andar Bahar in eight (2.69% and 4.50%), followed by Dragon Tiger games in ninth (2.27% and 2.88%).
