Deadly Tiger Attack In Chandrapur; Here’s What Triggered It
A shocking incident happened in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district on Friday morning.
A shocking incident happened in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district on Friday morning. Four women lost their lives after a tiger attacked them while they were collecting tendu leaves in a forest area near Gunjewahi village.
According to forest officials, the women had gone to the forest early in the morning for daily work. Tendu leaves are mainly used for making bidis, and many villagers collect them during this season to earn money.
While the women were busy collecting leaves, a tiger suddenly attacked them. The attack created fear and panic in the nearby villages. Local people immediately informed forest officials after finding the bodies.
The women who died in the incident were identified as Kawadabai Mohurle, Anitabai Mohurle, Sunita Mohurle, and Sangita Chaudhary. All of them were residents of Gunjewahi village in Sindewahi tehsil.
Officials said it is still not clear whether the tiger attacked all four women at the same place or in different areas of the forest. A forest department team quickly reached the spot and started an investigation.
A senior forest officer said more details will be known after completing the official inspection and reports. Forest staff are also trying to track the tiger and protect nearby villagers from any further danger.
Why do lions attack ?
Meanwhile, a recent survey reportedly revealed that India now has the highest number of tigers in the world. Reports say the tiger population in the country has increased strongly over the years because of wildlife protection programs.
However, experts say incidents like these show the growing conflict between humans and wild animals. As forests become smaller and human activities increase near forest areas, encounters with tigers are also rising.
