Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) sent a revenue recovery notice to former President late A P J Abdul Kalam for an outstanding telephone bill. This came as a big embarrassment to the Government-run Organisation.
The revenue recovery notice issued on November 18th and signed by Accounts Officer in Trivandrum advises Abdul Kalam to prefer a one-time settlement to clear the pending due of Rs 1,029 for Phone Number 2724800 or be prepared for facing revenue recovery action. In addition, The notice also mentions Thiruvananthapuram region revenue recovery officer will be issued powers to seize Kalam's movable and unmovable assets if he failed to settle the bill.
Sources say, This particular bill was generated when Abdul Kalam was a guest at the Kerala Raj Bhawan for 2 days.
Post facing the embarrassment, BSNL issued a statement clarifying the notice was sent to Raj Bhawan, not to Abdul Kalam.
