Jail for Celebs if they endorse false products

Celebrities have often landed in trouble for endorsing false brands. And while some lay the blame on celebrities, others wonder if the celebrity is really accountable for the mistakes of the brand. Celebrities from film and cricket need to be more cautious before choosing a brand to endorse.

A parliamentary committee which was constituted for probe into the matter have come up with a shocking recommendations. The committee recommended with five years jail and Rs.50 lakh penalty for wrong endorsements making those celebrities accountable.

The decision was taken in order to curb the misleading advertisements especially endorsed by the celebrities. The committee will submit the newly proposed recommendations to Parliament soon. The brand ambassadors need to more careful while singing the brand if the bill is passed with the proposed recommendations.

In the most recent case, Bollywood top rated actors like Madhuri Dixit, Big B Amitabh and Preity Zinta were served PILs for endorsing instant noodles brand Maggi.
