Smart phone sensation Freedom 251 have received stern warning from central government. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the government is monitoring the actions of Ringing Bells. He said the government will take action if the company fails to deliver the Rs 251 handset as promised to buyers.
"Our Ministry enquired into how prepared they are to deliver the phones. We have asked whether they have the BIS certificate or not.If there are any, we will take action as per the law. Our department is keeping a watch" the minister said
Ringing Bells last week unveiled the world's cheapest smartphone. The company has announced that it costs them Rs 2,500 for making the smartphone but expressed confidence that the amount will be recovered through a series of measures like innovative marketing, reduction in duties and creating an e-commerce marketplace.Till now Ringing Bells managed to receive over 6 crore registrations.
