The personal video controversy at Chandigarh University needs no introduction. The issue has sent shocking waves across the nation and people are talking about the case. The issue popped up with a few University students alleging their objectionable videos were shot and leaked online.
After staging a protest against the burning issue, the students called off their fight. With the administration assuring the students that the guilty will not be spared and a comprehensive probe is underway, they decided to call off their protest. The protest was called off on Monday as per the media reports.
Reports say that the students were confident in a fair probe. There is a reason behind this. An all-women Special Investigation Team(SIT) has been set up by the Punjab cops the other day and Additional DGP (Community Affairs Division and Women Affairs) Gurpreet Kaur Deo is the head of the team.
Three accused were arrested and sent to custody in connection with the case. A further probe is underway and this reportedly made the students develop a belief that the issue would be sorted out at the earliest. The University administration announced that no classes will happen till the 24th of this month.
For the past few days, Chandigarh University has been seeing tense situations with the protests of girl students alleging that their bath videos were shot and leaked online. The situation reached a point where the cops reached the campus and requested the students to not continue the protest as it is a sensitive matter.
The controversy came to light a few days back. The initial investigation found that only one video was shot by the accused girl and she shot her bath video and sent it to her rumored boyfriend. Besides the girl student, her rumored boyfriend and his friend were arrested and produced before the court. The trio was sent to custody.
The SIT comprises Ludhiana Superintendent of Police (Counter Intelligence) Rupinder Kaur Bhatti, Kharar-1 Deputy Superintendent of Police Rupinder Kaur, and DSP (anti-gangster task force) Deepika Singh. The SIT is not leaving any stone unturned in probing the much-talked-about controversy.
