That AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is publicity crazy is well-known. He never tires about telling what he has done for AP and Hyderabad. He can self-boast ad nauseum about his visionary approach and talent. After he became the CM of Andhra Pradesh, he has begun naming every programme and scheme after his name. This was unprecedented in AP. No chief minister had ever done this. But, Chandrababu was unabashed in naming every scheme after himself.
There are schemes like Chandranna Beema, Chandranna Sankranthi Kanuka, Chandranna Ramzaan Tohfa, Chandranna Christmas Kanuka, Chandranna Kapu Bhavan ⦠The list is endless. Many experts say this is not only unethical, but also against the spirit of the constitution. Though YSR too had renamed several schemes, they were named after either Indira Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi and never after himself.
But, fore the first ever time, Chandrababu has shied away from naming a scheme after himself. The unemployed pension of Rs 1000 to all the unemployed will soon be issued. The government is planning to give Rs 1000 each to 32 lakh unemployed every month. This scheme has been in the backburner for four years and has been brought to the fore only with an eye on the upcoming elections.
But, why did Chandrababu shy away from naming the scheme after himself? It is being said that Lokesh wanted to name the scheme as Yuva Nestam. When this was proposed, Devineni Uma suggested that it should be Chandranna Yuva Nestam. But, Chandrababu felt that since many youths are being left out of the scheme and only Rs 1000 is being given, there could be a backlash to the scheme. So, he felt it was better that his name is removed from the scheme.
