Governments often face headaches over the liquor issue. Barring the states that are liquor-free, the liquor sales bring big money to the treasury and that’s why the government stays cautious on the issue. Similar situations are taking place in the Eastern state of India Bihar.

With the Bihar government not dealing with the liquor ban effectively, the incidents of people losing their lives are being reported now and then allowing the opposition parties to target the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government.

Amid the fierce attack from the opposition, the Bihar government had tabled a new bill on liquor prohibition. The bill which was passed by the house endorses a new plan according to which, those who violate the rules can get bail on the condition that it should be their first offense.

While addressing the house on the occasion, Nitish Kumar slammed the liquor lovers and asked who told them to drink liquor even after knowing that it is not good for their health. He even said that the government cannot take responsibility for the lives lost due to alcohol.

Quoting Mahatma Gandhi as saying, Nitish Kumar said that the liquor consumers are mahapaapis and they are not Indians. "I would call them mahapaapi. I would say those who are not following Mahatma Gandhi are not even Hindustanis. They are incompetent people," the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister even said that the families of the liquor consumers, who lost their lives due to liquor will not be given any consumption as it is the mistake of the consumers to take alcohol even if it is not good for their health.
