American-based Pharmaceutical industry company Pfizer, one of the leading biotechnology firms in the world made a massive prediction on the existence of the ongoing Covid pandemic. According to the multinational pharmaceutical firm, the pandemic would emerge as an endemic and might stay for a few more years.

The scientists at Pfizer said that Covid will not leave the world until 2024 and by that time the pandemic will transform into an endemic in most of the countries. After Covid gets into the form of endemic, the countries will see a limited number of cases and casualties triggered by it.

Chief Scientific Officer at Pfizer Mikael Dolsten made the observations at a meeting with the investors and other stockholders. During his presentation, the Officer said, by 2024, the ongoing virus will get transformed into an endemic. Across the globe, the virus would be endemic, he said.

Giving more information on the observations, the Officer said, other aspects like the possible changes in the virus, like the emergence of the new variants and how the vaccines and treatment impacts play a bigger role in this. It all depends on the evolution of the disease.

At the same meeting, Chief Scientific Officer Mikael Dolsten told the investors that the pharma firm is looking into the aspect of bringing a three-dose vaccine for children aged between 2 to 16. Talking about the clinical data, the expert said those who were given the vaccine doses had shown encouraging impact.

The pharma giant came up with the observations at the time when the Omicron variant was spreading its wings across the globe. As when everyone thought that Covid would end, Omicron came out of nowhere and made many countries suffer. Even the developed countries like the United Kingdom and the United States are fearing the new variant.

The Omicron variant was first detected in South Africa this year. After it was detected in South Africa, the new variant went on to spread its wings across the globe, and as of now, the virus was reported in more than 91 countries, as per the observations of the global agency World Health Organization (WHO).
