Alliances and poll pacts get new friends and also additional votes. This must be a happy occasion. But, sometimes , it could actually rob you of your seat and the fight. Senior Congress leader and MLA Jeevan Reddy is learning this lesson the hard way.
Jeevan Reddy, a former minister, is a formidable leader. He had won from Jagityal in Karimnagar even at the height of the TRS wave in 2014. He is the only Congress MLA from the whole district. Everytime he contested, TDP's LV Ramana was his rival. Thus, both have been fighting each other for several years. But, with the Congress-TDP coming together to defeat the TRS, both Ramana and Jeevan Reddy are on one side. So, both want to fight from their traditional burrough of Jagityal.
The TDP insists that since Ramana is the president of the Telangana TDP, he must be given Jagityal. But, Jeevan Reddy's supporters cite his success run at Jagityal and say that he deserves to contest from Jagityal. The Congress is trying to convince Jeevan Reddy to give up his claims on Jagityal, but Jeevan Reddy's followers are not relenting. They are refusing to work for Ramana, who has all along been their arch enemy and has given them so much trouble whenever the TDP was in power.
So, both Jeevan and Ramana have to fight among themselves first before actually taking on the TRS, their common enemy.
