EC Lifts Election Code In 4 Districts Of AP

Update: 2019-05-03 12:29 GMT
Election Commission of India lifted Election Code in four districts of Andhra Pradesh due to Cyclone Fani. This decision was taken after consulting all the concerned departments about the measures to be taken. Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and East Godavari are the districts which got an exemption.

This move comes as a big relief for the TDP Government which was restricted from holding review meetings citing the Election Code of Conduct. Now, The Caretaker CM could conduct review meeting with Officials and implement the decisions taken.

Chandrababu Naidu wished to visit the Fani Cyclone affected areas in the state but the Model Code came as a hurdle. Even the decision of EC not to allow him to conduct Review Meetings made the TDP Supremo restless. Finally, Election Commission responded positively to the appeal made by Caretaker CM considering the measures to be taken to minimise the damage of cyclone.

Needless to say, TDP Leaders claim the latest development as their victory over the ECI. Who have an upper hand doesn't matter in a situation like this..! Focus need to be on those are badly affected by the natural calamity.
