Employees revolt on Cognizant over Pink Slips

US-based IT Firm Cognizant firing thousands of Indian Employees on grounds of poor performance has been the hot topic since few days. The company offered 6 to 9 months of salary for its Directors, Associate Vice Presidents and Senior Vice Presidents who were served pink slips.

Forum of IT Employees (FITE) sought the intervention of Telangana and Tamil Nadu Governments to intervene in the issue. However, Cognizant denied any layoffs and didn't even disclose the count of employees it has sacked. The Company claims it have the authority to choose its employees depending the requirements of the clients.

Telangana Government has responded on the petition moved by Forum of IT Employees. Officials in Labour Department will be meeting Cognizant representatives for discussing about the layoffs. Joint Commissioner (Labour) R Chandrasekhar assured to resolve the issue in an amicable manner.
