Ex-Deputy CM annoys his own party men

Former deputy chief minister and TDP biggie from Peddapuram Nimmakayala Chinarajappa's proximity to some YSRCP leaders has become the hot topic of discussion within the Telugu Desam Party. Several party workers are upset at the domineering ways of Chinarajappa, who is being accused of acting in an autocratic manner.

There are allegations within the TDP that Chinarajappa has occupied the lands distributed among the landless poor to start a quarry. The quarry has now been leased out to a prominent YSRCP leader from Kakinada. A proxy of Chinarajappa is said to have mediated the whole agreement, allege TDP workers. Though this issue was taken to the notice of the TDP top leadership, there is no action.

Chinarajappa has already pronounced himself as the TDP candidate for the 2024 elections. He has done this in the presence of Chandrababu Naidu during the latter's recent visit to Peddapuram. The party leaders opposed to Chinarajappa feel that this was an arbitrary decision. They claim that Rajappa is trying to suppress dissent within the party.

Meanwhile, there are allegations that Chinarajappa has fallen foul of the strong Kamma community in Peddapuram. The Kammas are a dominating community in the constituency and Boddu Bhaskara Rama Rao was the uncrowned king of Kamma politics till 2004. This community is said to be cut up with Chinarajappa.
