Finally, at long last, the Ashok Gehlot government has made a comedown from its abstinate stand and has given in to the Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra. Ashok Gehlot, who boasted that he had the complete majority and said that he can prove that on the floor of the assembly, is now vary of a confidence motion. Hence he has not included it in the agenda of the house session. Yet he wanted to issue a whip to the breakaway faction led by his former deputy Sachin Pilot on some pretext or the other and then disqualify them.
However, the governor insisted on following the rules and said that if no confidence motion is not moved, the government has to give a notice of 21 days. Thus, he forced the government to take back its third request for convening an assembly session. Finally, giving in to the Governor's steadfast stand, Ashok Gehlot finally agreed to have the assembly session from August 14. This is being seen as a great victory for the Governor.
Soon after the governor agreed to convene a sesson of the assembly, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot met the Governor for some time. Later, Speaker CP Joshi also met the governor. Meanwhile, both the rival factions of the Congress Party are doing everything they can to muster necessary numbers.
