Meet Sonia Raman, first Indian-origin female coach in NBA!

Basketball is one of the widely watched sports in the western nations, like how Cricket is for India. Mostly youngsters watch the post as they start training in the sport from their school days. It has been a trend that local members were given the coach post. However, the trend has been changing recently.

An Indian-origin female was made the coach of the National Basketball Association. With this, she will be the first woman with Indian roots to take up the coach post. Overall, she is the third Indian origin to get the post. Earlier, Vin Bhavnani and Roy Rana were made the coaches who worked with Oklahoma City Thunder and Sacramento Kings teams respectively.

One Sonia Raman, who has her roots in India and was brought up in the United States was selected as the coach. She is the perfect combination of south and north as her mother is from Maharashtra and her father is from Tamil Nadu. They migrated to the United States. Sonia Raman was born in the land of opportunities and brought up there. She went to one of the top schools and universities for her treatment.

Sonia Raman has been traveling with the American professional basketball team, Memphis Grizzlies since 2019. After the team could not hold its nerves and left the tournament midway through the playoffs. However, she was taken as a member of the coaching staff. Later, she was made the assistant coach. She has a good history of leading the football teams' toward winning the trophies.

Earlier, Sonia Raman was made the coach of women's basketball at the popular Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). During her stint as the coach of the basketball team, she made wonders and led the team to lift the title trophies for the two consecutive years in 2018 and 2019.

Sonia Raman has experience of guiding the team as a coach for not less than 12 years. In her long journey, she had groomed many young players and helped them better their games. The fans of the sport pinned high hopes that Sonia Raman's vast experience will come in handy for the team and players.
