An attempt was made to steal a ransom of $80,000 by hacking the email account of Binny Bansal, CEO of e-commerce giant Flipkart. A formal complaint has been lodged with the cybercrime police.
As per rpeorts the incident took place two weeks back. An official mail went from Bansal to the company's CFO Sanjay Baweja in which he asked to transfer $80,000. In the emails, the hackers demanded that the money be put in their accounts immediately.Noting the oddity of the request Sanjay checked with Bansal in person and come to know about hacking.
Cybercrime Investigators have found the emails were shot off from Hong Kong and Canada. E-commerce companies pride themselves about 64-bit protection but the incident come as shocker.Bansal, in January this year, had taken over as CEO of Flipkart.
