Gadwal Vijayalakshmi in controversy: Did she get tehsildar transferred?
Hours after she became the mayor of the GHMC, TRS leader Gadwal Vijayalakshmi is embroiled in an unseemly controversy. She is finding herself at the centre of the dispute surrounding the sudden transfer of Shaikpet Tehsildar.
The Tehsildar, Srinivas Reddy, was sent transfer orders even as he was making an inquest report pertaining to the tragic bus mishap in Araku, where most of the victims are Shaikpet residents. Reddy was shocked to get the transfer orders without an accompanying GO, which is mandatory for the transfer of a tehsildar. Sources said that Vijayalakshmi had a running feud with Reddy and the latter had filed a complaint against Vijayalakshmi when she was a corporator.
Soon after becoming the mayor, she is alleged to have sought for a transfer of Reddy. Several employees unions and the tehsildars union too have condemned the decision to transfer Reddy. Meanwhile, Vijayalakshmi landed in another controversy when posters congratulating her were put all across the city in contravention of the GHMC rules. Several citizens have lodged complaints about littering of the city with posters. Later, the civic authorities imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on one of her supporters.
