Imposing a ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes has brought life to a standstill on Wednesday in a city like Hyderabad.
People had remained either at their houses or in the offices for most of the time due to lack of notes with Rs 100 denominations. Lack of customers affected the business operations. Hotels which were able to do a business of around Rs 10,000 per day could see a drastic drop of up to Rs 7,000. Even Cinema Halls remained empty. In most of the areas, Shows began only in the evening.
On Wednesday night, There wasn't traffic at all on the roads. Usually, One-and-a-half hour would be required to travel from Dilshuknagar to Hyderabad in the evenings. However, It took just 45 minutes for the commuters to cover this distance Yesterday.
Vehicles were packed at the petrol bunks all over the city as the owners accepted Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes after GOI gave clear instructions.
