Money From Centre, Credit For State?

Update: 2020-07-19 07:39 GMT
Normally, KCR is one politician who believes that schemes and programmes should not be named after individuals. For the past six years, only one programme - KCR Kits - is named after him. This is very unlike the Congress Party, which revels in naming every programme or scheme after one family.

But, a whole housing colony has recently been named after him in Mahabubnagar district. Interestingly, the colony was not named by the grateful occupants, but the district administration. The colony was inaugurated by none other than his son and TRS working president KTR. But, it now turns out that the state government has not given a single farthing for the construction of the houses in the colony. The money came from the Central Government as part of the Central Government's housing scheme. This is part of the ambitious plan to construct 1.5 lakh houses across the country.

How did the Mahbubnagar district administration name this colony after KCR? If the Centre has given money for the buildings, why should it be named after KCR? Who was the district administration trying to please? Will someone care to answer?
