The high rise in the daily cases of Coronavirus infections had forced the Telangana government to impose strict rules and restrictions to bring the pandemic situations in the state under control.

As part of this, the TS government has decided to fine people who don't wear facemask outdoors. The special drive to fine the violators has been started by the Traffic Police on Tuesday.

The circular directing the Collectors, Commissioners, and other officers to carry out the drive was issued by the Telangana government on the 28th of March. The circular collides with the Union Home Ministry's directives to curb the new infections.

The government had decided to impose a fine of Rs 2,000 for the violators. A person had already been fined for not wearing the mask. Sharing the picture of the challan, the person urged everyone to be alert and not get fined like him.

According to the media reports, the Police had already served e-challans to people who didn't wear facemask based on their vehicle registration. With the special drive planned by the traffic police, the number of challans issued as per the new circular might go up.

Telangana added 463 fresh Covid -19 infections in the past 24 hours and the total number of infections caused by the respiratory disease rose to 3,07,205. The virus had claimed 1694 lives in Telangana.
