The spread of the respiratory disease originated from the Wuhan province of China continues to ring the danger bells in India as the country is reporting the highest surge of cases day by day.
In the last 24 hours, India reported as many as 55,079 fresh infections of the virus and the toll of the total infections in the country to 16,38,871. The other day, India reported over 52,000 fresh cases the other day.
On the other hand, not less than 779 succumbed to the respiratory disease in 12 hours, which takes the total casualties in connection with the ongoing pandemic in the country to 35,747.
On a brighter note, India reported as many as 37,223 recoveries of the contagious disease in the last 24 hours which takes the toll of the total recoveries in the country to 10,57,805.
The recovery rate of the ongoing pandemic which has been increasing gradually currently stood at 64.54%. This is the highest recovery rate of the contagious disease so far.
The active cases in the country stood at 5,45,318. For the first time, the difference between active cases and recovered cases mounted over 5 lakh-mark with 5,12,487.
