In the 2020 Rajya Sabha elections, 45 members emerged victoriously in the polls and made it to the upper house of the Parliament of India. These MPs were elected across 20 states in India.
Out of the 20 states, four members from the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh tasted success in the Rajya Sabha polls. The information provided by the MPs in the election affidavit made many eyebrows.
As per the information gathered by the non-governmental organization Association for Democratic Reforms, YSRCP MP Ayodhya Rami Reddy emerged as the richest MP in the country with an asset that worth Rs 2577 crore.
Janata Dal(United) MP Mahendra Prasad turned out as the richest MP in the country who declared record assets of Rs 4078 crore. The MP hails from eastern state Bihar.
Talking about YSRC MP Ayodhya Rami Reddy. he hails from Guntur district who showed movable assets and immovable assets as Rs 2518 crore and Rs 59 crore respectively.
Looking into the criminal records of the newly elected MPs, 54 leaders possess criminal cases which translates to 24 percent. BJP has a more number of MPs with criminal cases.
