JC Prabhakar Reddy claims Tadipatri Municipal Chairman

Update: 2021-03-18 08:35 GMT
Tadipatri is one of the battleground Municipalities in Andhra Pradesh in the recently concluded civic body polls. As a major twist in the election episode, Tadipatri Municipal polls threw 'hung verdict'.

As an only relief to TDP, the party has managed to win both Chairman and Vice-Chairman posts of Tadipatri Municipality. TDP senior leader JC Prabhakar Reddy and P. Saraswati were elected as Chairman and Vice-Chairperson respectively.

JC Prabhakar Reddy reached the magic figure to win the Chairman's post with the independent candidate and the CPI candidate supporting the former Legislator.

The Magical figure to win the Chairman post is 20. 21 votes were polled in support of JC Prabhakar Reddy, including CIP and an independent candidate. 18 voters were polled in favour of Sayyad Basha, YSRCP candidate.

On the other hand, three petitions seeking directives to conduct MPTC and ZPTC elections were filed in Andhra Pradesh High Court. The petitioners told the court that SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is going on leave without conducting the elections.

After hearing the arguments of the petitioners, the Andhra Pradesh High Court sought Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar's response on this. The next hearing was adjourned to Saturday.

It has to be noted that, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar's tenure as SEC comes to an end on the 31st of this month. Earlier, he called for an inquiry into unanimous polls in MPTC and ZPTC polls. However, the High Court quashed the order.

The Andhra Pradesh government which is keen on holding the polls as soon as possible is in the opinion of going for the polls before Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar's tenure gets completed.
